- This is a Great and Wonderful Country

In August 2010, the Matsui Foundation Board determined that the Foundation would concentrate its grant-making work in support of undergraduate students at the University of California schools(including Representative Robert T. Matsui's alma mater, U.C. Berkeley). The Foundation's current grant-making activity supports the Robert T. Matsui Center on Politics and Public Service at UC Berkeley and the Robert T. Matsui-U.C. Congressional Fellowship Program at the University of California Washington Center (UCDC).

Previously, the Matsui Foundation has engaged in other successful collaborations including a writing competition for students at the University of California Washington Center and a summer fellowship program for students at Pacific McGeorge Law School in Sacramento, California.

Robert T. Matsui-U.C. Congressional Fellowship

The Robert T. Matsui Foundation's flagship program since 2007 has been the Robert T. Matsui-U.C. Congressional Fellowships, which are awarded on a competitive basis to undergraduate students in the University of California Washington Program engaged in term-time congressional internships. The program aims to support this public service internship by providing financial support, placement assistance, and special programming for each class of Fellows. Additional fellows have been funded in past terms by the Robert T. Matsui Center on Politics and Public Service at U.C. Berkeley.

The University of California administers the program and makes all determinations on fellowship awards independent of the Robert T. Matsui Foundation. University of California students seeking application or additional information on the program should contact Marc Sandalow, Associate Academic Director of the U.C. Washington Center.
